Wikipedia, offline edition

As usual, I was off for a long time, so I've better to come with something good, I think I did. I started a new project which allow people to access the content of wikipedia from their DVD or HDD without the need of internet access.

The code is released under GPL. The project is hosted on Google Code, http://code.google.com/p/eclipsedia/

Technically, the project is Eclipse RCP. It uses Apache Lucene for the search functionality. It support Arabic and English out-of-the-box.

Java is Finally Free and Open

http://www.jboss.org/feeds/post/java_is_finally_free_and_open

OK... I am very excited about that... now you can develop and run Java programs in 100% open source environment.

According to TIOBE (http://www.tiobe.com/index.php/content/paperinfo/tpci/index.html), Java is the most poplar programming language, with a market share about 20%. C is coming next with 15% market share. C# is the 8th with market share 4%.

Open sourcing Java will make it possible to include it in the free Linux distros such Fedora, Ubuntu and openSuse. IMHO, that will have a big impact on both Linux and Java.

What this is all about

Hi everyone,

First of all, I've failed to maintain my blog several times in past, so I don't promise you nothing about this one.

Second of all, I hope you guys all doing fine.

I'm blogging again, mainly, to arrange my thoughts and share ideas with anyone interested. So I would be glad to hear from you using comments or e-mails.

I guess most of my posts here will be about the one subject I enjoy the most, COMPUTER PROGRAMMING. It takes most of my time, it give me most of my joy, and most importantly, it feed me.
